Kimber offers 1911 pistols in four sizes, which they call Custom, Pro, Compact, and Ultra. The Custom is their full size 1911, 5" barrel, full length grip. The Pro is their commander size 1911, 4" barrel, full length grip (however a true commander size has a 4.24" barrel). The Compact is their officers size 1911, 4" barrel and shorter grip which holds one fewer round than the full size grip. And Ultra is their smallest size, 3" barrel, shorter grip.
They offer a number of 1911 pistol styles which are given group names. So for example, their CDP II group of pistols all have light weight frames, ambidextrous safety, wood grips, and are dehorned. A Pro CDP II would then mean a commander sized 1911 with the attributes of: Light weight frame, ambidextrous safety, wood grips, etc. So ...
Custom II are all full sized match grade pistols.
Gold Match II are all full sized higher match grade pistols.
Carry (Compact, Pro, Ultra sizes) are all light weight carry pistols.
Crimson Carry are Carry pistols with a grip lazer sight.
Tactical are intended for law enforcement.
Eclipse have a brushed stainless finish.
SIS are for serious law enforcement tactical units.
Covert have the military looking grips.
Aegis are two tone with wood grips.
CDP are dehorned lightweight Carry pistols with wood grips.
Raptor have the fancy slide serrations.
Custom are made with whatever you want in their shop.
Rimfire are all .22's.
In my opinion, their best full sized is the Custom CDP II. But if you want the fancy lasar sight, get a Custom Crimson Carry II.
